While part of the work to address gender-based violence is supporting those affected by it, we also know that education and prevention is at the heart of the solution. In Niger so far this year, we have educated 681 community members on gender-based violence.
Here at the British Red Cross, we know from our work at home and overseas that there is still much to be done. Around the world, we support women and girls who have been through unimaginable traumas.
Did you know that in Niger, West Africa, 3 out of 5 women have suffered some sort of sexual gender-based violence in their lives?
What exactly is gender-based violence and who does this impact? #EndViolenceAgainstWomen

The vast majority of people affected by climate disasters live in low-resource countries that contribute the least to global carbon emissions - the newly agreed Loss and Damage fund must provide support to these communities who are the hardest hit. #COP27
Following #COP27, we urgently need better coordination around emergency response, early action, and to support communities to adapt to climate change. ⬇

Here’s Ruth and Andrew, two of our volunteers chosen to attend the #FestivalOfRemembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. ❤️
Emergency response volunteer Andrew was also an RAF Volunteer Reservist for over 30 years. "My late wife, who passed away last year, always made a point of watching the Festival of Remembrance, and I know she would have been very proud that I have been chosen to attend."
We're proud that a few of our volunteers will be involved in the #FestivalofRemembrance today - a commemorative event dedicated to all those that have served and sacrificed for Britain and the Commonwealth.
