Jean lowered the wheelchair world record in five of her wins, ultimately recording a best of 1:34:22. She is widely regarded as a pioneer in wheelchair racing history. A pair of her racing gloves are in the B.A.A.’s archives along with gloves from fellow champion Cheri Blauwet.
Among the most successful athletes in Boston Marathon history is Jean Driscoll. Beginning in 1990, Jean won seven women’s wheelchair titles in a row, and added an eighth victory in 2000 to become the most decorated women’s champion of all-time. #WomensHistoryMonth #RunTo125

The B.A.A. mourns the recent passing of Boston Marathon champion Liane Winter of Germany. Liane won the 1975 Boston Marathon in a then-course record & world best of 2:42:24. She was a pioneer of women’s running & the first international champion of the women’s division in Boston.

The B.A.A. has announced that if road races can take place as part of the MA reopening plan, the 125th Boston Marathon will be held on Monday, October 11. A virtual race option will also be offered in celebration of the 125th Boston Marathon. Read more ->
