The Premier says that our healthcare system is teetering. Are corporations charging thousands of dollars per year for access to longitudinal care part of his vision for BC? 7/7 #bcpoli #healthcare #BCHealth

People are being asked to pay $4000+ for “premier” services like full annual check-ups, diagnostics, physiotherapists, and dietitians with Telus Health. This government is allowing healthcare delivery to be corporatized. 2/ #bcpoli #healthcare #BCHealth

Today is the 124th day of the Sea-to-Sky transit strike, making it the longest transit strike in BC history. It's unacceptable that a gov't that claims to be for workers has waited 124 days to appoint a mediator. Full release: bcgreens.ca/furstenau_stat… #bcpoli #S2S #YVR
Minister @MitziDeanBC responded with little more than rhetoric & Premier @jjhorgan used DRIPA as a shield for their lack of action. The @bcndp continues to talk about embracing reconciliation but, 4 years of DRIPA, their perpetuation of colonialism says otherwise. 5/5 #bcpoli

The MCFD continues to actively withhold information in order to protect itself. Today I asked Premier @jjhorgan why, if he positions himself as a warrior of reconciliation, he allows his government to continue with this data colonialism? 4/ #bcpoli

Thanks @AdamPOlsen for tabling this today. It is an issue that @RuthElwoodMart1 & @ccpheUBC partners have long campaigned about. It is now in the hands of the Premier @jjhorgan and the @bcndp majority to bring the bill forward for debate and ensure it passes so that this unconstitutional and inhumane practice ends in British Columbia. 6/6 #bcpoli #BanSolitaryConfinement

This bill aligns with the 2022 resolution from @UBCIC to ban solitary confinement, a 2021 report from @BCOmbudsperson about youth detention in BC, and the 2019 decision from the BC Court of Appeal that found prolonged solitary confinement to be inhumane & unconstitutional. 5/

Lastly #Decriminalization alone will not save lives. We need to rapidly increase and expand regulated safe supply, and do it outside of a prescriber model. 5/5 #bcpoli #safesupply www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/bir…

The intent of #Decriminalization is to reduce stigma, but when possession limits are low, it can result in higher potency of drugs, potentially causing more harm and a fear of seeking help. 3/ #bcpoli #EndTheStigma #safesupply

But this announcement comes with a caveat. BC requested a limit for personal possession of 4.5 g, but the federal government only approved a limit of 2.5g. Health experts and advocates argued for a higher threshold, based on data and evidence. 2/ #bcpoli #decriminalization
