1/ There's a fascinating story of a normal guy named Allen Hemberger who became obsessed with the Alinea cookbook. He spent 5 years re-creating all 107 recipes.
There's an extremely valuable lesson in this process for anyone thinking about taking the leap to become a creator.
I'm pleased that the State of Illinois is working with TAG to provide *free* Covid testing in the West Loop for hospitality industry employees and the neighboring members of the community. The first walk up testing will be this Saturday across from The Aviary. Anyone may test.

Ogling the beautiful @AviaryCocktails book. So excited to go back tomorrow and introduce a loved one to one of the best cocktailing experiences around.
My copy of The Aviary Cocktail Book from @AviaryCocktails arrived today. It is beyond gorgeous, a primer on innovation and design. Even if you’re not a drinker, you should buy a copy.
Just a quick shoutout...
The Aviary Cocktail Book (@AviaryCocktails) is gorgeous.
And, the process of getting the book into my hands was the most insightful and fun experience I’ve had on Kickstarter.
Working on listing our Aviary book on Amazon. As with every other aspect of self-publishing a book, nothing about this "just happens". For example, one important thing we need to do is choose/create a suitable main image for the book listing.

Wow, did I enjoy this @tferriss podcast with the co-founder of Alinea / Aviary.
Its 3 hours long and I could have listened to another 3. What an interesting guy.
If you are young and you listen, the odds you major in philosophy will go up.

An oldie but a goodie! Green Thumb: Rum, sherry, lime, gin, green chartreuse, and snap pea. Garnished with pea tendrils, dusted lightly with fennel pollen, dill pollen, and distilled white vinegar powder. (bit.ly/AVIARYTOCK)
Our final approval gate for the Aviary book showed up in the mail from our printer yesterday: folded and gathered signatures (or "F&G's"). A brief explanation for how these start as large printed sheets and end up as folded pages is here: twitter.com/dhemberg/statu…
A couple more cover tests, these with varying levels of embossing and debossing to give depth to the flock. The upside is that it looks and feels cool; downside is that multiple depths leads to greater likelihood of registration issues (and also takes longer):
