From the ancient to the now, here’s an important piece of news you can use: We restarted our weekly Chengdu-Kathmandu (CTU-KTM) flight, CA437/8, starting June 12, 2022. This is the 2nd outbound flight from CTU that we have resumed after Chengdu-Singapore (CTU-SIN). ✈️

Right outside the circle of 7 ancient capitals is Zhengzhou. Often referred as China’s 8th historic city, it was the capital of the Shang Dynasty (1766 BC-1050 BC). In the mountains nearby is the Shaolin Temple, the birthplace of the Shaolin Kung Fu often depicted in movies. ✈️
Kaifeng rounds out the 7 Ancient Capitals of China. W/ a history of 2,700 years, this under-the-radar city’s historic importance is huge. 1 of its famous visitors was Marco Polo. Several styles of Chinese calligraphy originated here, earning it the “City of Calligraphy” moniker.

Our last 2 cuisines are Xiang (Hunan) & Zhe (Zhejiang). Xiang cuisine is tolerably spicy as it doesn’t use numbing Sichuan peppercorns. It’s the closest 2 home cooking U can find! Zhe cuisine uses Jinhua ham as a key ingredient. Did U know? Shaoxing wine originated in Zhejiang.
While the landlocked Anhui Province owes its name recognition from the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon w/c was partly filmed in Huangshan Mountain & the ancient village of Hongcun, it’s also the spawning ground of the Hui cuisine. The Stinky Tofu dish originated in Anhui.
Min (Fujian) cuisine originated in China’s southeastern coastal province after w/c it’s named. The country’s most famous soup is Fujian born. It’s pricey & has an unforgettable name: Buddha Jumps over the Wall. Its heavenly taste can make one jump over an obstacle 2 savor it.
