We must root out racism, including voting barriers that discriminate against voters of color. We'll keep fighting until the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act makes it to President Biden's desk.

Our voting rights shouldn't be up for debate. The Senate must figure out how to work around the filibuster as an obstacle blocking this landmark legislation.

BREAKING: The Senate failed to advance the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act for now. This isn't the end of the fight — our voting rights still need protecting.

We'll keep fighting to end this illegal policy and the untold harm it inflicts on asylum seekers. action.aclu.org/send-message/p…

Today, we were back in court fighting for an end to Title 42, a cruel policy that illegally closes the borders to families seeking safety in the US. The Biden administration continues to defend this Trump-era policy despite claiming they want to treat asylum seekers humanely.

Every day that our clients remain in Afghanistan is a day they are in imminent danger. Our government must keep its promises and immediately evacuate them.

False rumors that the U.S. government has compensated surviving family members and NEI employees also continue to circulate. We want to be clear: Safety first. We aren’t even discussing compensation with the Pentagon and no money has been paid.

These are people who have suffered unimaginable loss. Their grief has been compounded by 19 days of untrue and stigmatizing allegations our government made about the drone strike victims, NEI staff, and NEI, which are still widespread in Afghanistan today.

It’s been almost six months since the strike. Our clients — victims’ surviving family members and Zemari’s Nutrition and Education International colleagues — continue to suffer and are in grave danger because of our government's shocking actions. They must be evacuated now.

This video is painful confirmation of the harm caused by our government when it killed aid worker Zemari Ahmadi and 9 members of his family, including 7 children, in Kabul last August. twitter.com/charlie_savage…

In a democracy, people should have full transparency about what police do and complete control over the size, scope, and budgets of policing. Project Flashlight shines a light on the ways that policing operates in the shadows. flashlight.acluct.org

The FBI wiretapped Martin Luther King, Jr. and urged him to commit suicide. Today, they label Black activists as “Black Identity Extremists.” Surveilling activists was wrong in the past and has no place in our present.
We honor Martin Luther King, Jr. in the fight against injustice. Today and everyday.
Martin Luther King, Jr. courageously fought against our nation's deliberate neglect and abuse of Black communities. Honoring his legacy means demanding our country make fundamental changes.

For the second time in three days, the Supreme Court of Ohio issued a clear and detailed opinion striking Ohio redistricting plans. This opinion enforces the mandate put forward by Ohio voters in 2018 who demanded an end to this abuse of power.
The court struck the enacted congressional map for giving Republicans an unconstitutional partisan advantage. Ohio lawmakers now have 30 days to draw a new map that aligns with the Ohio Constitution.
VICTORY: The Supreme Court of Ohio issued another ruling today on gerrymandered maps in the state. In this ruling, the court ordered the Republican-controlled Ohio General Assembly to draw a new map that complies with the Ohio Constitution.

Ohio voters have demanded an end to political gerrymandering time and time again. Gerrymandering disproportionately affects minority voters and this decision ensures that people — especially people of color — can have a voice in our government.
The court holds that the commissioners didn't even "attempt to draw a district plan that meets the standard articulated [in the Ohio Constitution]." The commission has 10 days to submit a new map to be reviewed again by the Supreme Court of Ohio.
