The 30th anniversary of #Saigu is being marked by events in solidarity cosponsored by leaders of the Korean American and Black communities of Los Angeles. The idea is to understand and heal. @hyepin will be at the center of it all, spreading her message of love and cooperation.
“We are fighting so that we can have the same kind of opportunities to reach our full potential, shine our light, and bless and contribute to this country.” #aapihistory
.@hyepin is the founder of the nonprofit Faith and Community Empowerment (FACE) which strives, as she puts it, “to bring the face of God through service and lift those who are faceless.”
The havoc and devastation profoundly affected Hyepin Im, a Korean MBA student at USC. "In the wake of the L.A. riots, I felt the injustice of these hard-working Korean business owners and families who were being portrayed negatively and unfairly."
This day 30 years ago, LA exploded with riots. Clouds shrouded the city as the rioting saw over 50 dead, $1 billion in damages & 3,000 businesses ransacked or utterly destroyed. Nearly half were Korean-owned. Read the article: bit.ly/3y38vlG #saigu #stopaapihate @hyepin

4. As Professor Lipstadt advises, “Hate is hate. And it must be fought.” #Antisemitism #HolocaustRememberanceDay
3. Thanks to scholars like @deborahlipstadt, groups like the @ADL, and the painstaking labors of Holocaust museums in making tangible the unbearable reality that was the Shoah, we are pushed, possibly against our will, to try to conceive what happened a lifetime ago.
2. The combined populations of metropolitan New York City and Chicago fall short of the carnage committed by a group who, through some twisted logic, regarded themselves as superior members of the human race.
1. Today, #HolocaustRememberanceDay, we are asked not to reflect, not to commemorate, so much as to try to conceive a crime so unspeakable as the cold-blooded murder of 11 million individual human beings, over 6 million of them Jews. standleague.org/newsroom/blog/… @ADL @JGreenblattADL
