Happy first day of @UTAustin's spring 2023 semester! UT's academic calendar has been revised and the spring term starts a week sooner than in previous years. It'll end early, too. The last day of class is April 24th, final exams begin the 27th, and graduation is on May 6th.

Last year, at least 9 people died, & an estimated 11,500 went to an ER. Of the 9 deaths, 6 were from misuse, 1 mortar launch malfunction, & 2 were unknown. The 11,500 emergency room visits were down from 15,600 experienced in 2020, during the first year of COVID-19.

Don't be a fireworks statistic this NYE! Over the past 15 years, there has been an increase in people injured by fireworks. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) shows 25% increase in injuries between 2006-2021.
