Just because a student does not raise their hand, does not mean that they are not thinking deeply about the content. We need to broaden what we mean by engagement in our classrooms/schools. This will invite/value more students in the learning process.

When @BBCAfrica highlighted my story of sexual assault, I learned that both the plight and problems of masculine identity as we know it are far more deep-rooted than I thought. And it mostly starts at lack of empathy. Empathy as an idea, then an emotion, then a skill.
