With the NUC’s approval, Delta State now has the highest number of universities in Nigeria. This is because in addition to the university that has already been in existence, the state now has four universities.

The approval was given by the Executive Secretary of NUC, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, when the Delta State Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, led top state government officials to present the strategic documents of the universities at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

Yesterday, the National University Commission (NUC) gave approval for three new Universities in Delta State. The approved universities are the Delta State University, Agbor; Denis Osadebe University, Asaba; and the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro.

This afternoon, we commissioned the Bike Park at Agodi Gate for use. This pilot project will be replicated all over the state if it works according to the design plan. While we do not plan to ban commercial motorcycles and tricycles, we'll regulate their operations in Oyo State.

In keeping to our firm resolve not to leave any project uncompleted, both roads have a completion schedule of 14 months and would each be funded at N1bn monthly by an irrevocable standing payment order against the state's internally generated revenue.

The Sakpenwa-Bori-Kono road which is a link to five Local Government Areas has a proposed width of 24 meters and a length of 17 kms. It will be fitted with streetlights and constructed by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).

The 9.3 meter wide, and 13.99 km long road has a projected cost of N13.48 bn with a completion schedule of 14 months. Also approved was the Second phase of the Sakpenwa-Bori-Kono road at the cost of N14bn.

The road which will be constructed by Lubric Construction Company (LCC) would create a road link to Krakrama, Omekwe-ama, Angulama, Omekwe Tari-Ama, Sangama, Mina-Ama and other riverine communities that were previously unaccessable by road.
