Arkansas passed two of the most brutal and restrictive laws targeting trans kids in the US. Here are the pro-LGBT companies pumped hundreds of thousands of dollars to the lawmakers behind it. A months-long investigation from @WaltHickey and I: businessinsider.com/companies-that…

.@ACLU's Leslie Cooper, just now in conference call: "Those opposed to LGBTQ equality have for a long time, sought to license to discriminate. They didn't get that in the Masterpiece Cake shop case, and they didn't get it today in the court's decision in Fulton."
Retweeted by Mary Emily O'Hara
Basically, this is as limited as Masterpiece Cakeshop was. It does NOT exempt taxpayer-funded agencies from nondiscrimination law, even though the court could have done that. It's a hidden victory.
The @ACLU says Fulton verdict is actually good news for LGBTQ equality bc the court refused to make the freedom to discriminate a constitutional right. It allows nondiscrimination laws to still apply to taxpayer-funded agencies. aclu.org/press-releases… via @ACLU
This is such a disappointing ruling from SCOTUS in Fulton v. Philadelphia. This case isn't about religious freedom — it's about discrimination against LGBTQ+ families who want to give foster children a loving home. Congress must respond by immediately passing the Equality Act.
Retweeted by Mary Emily O'Hara
A key point limiting the Fulton decision is SCOTUS finding Philly's contract not generally applicable. As such, SCOTUS doesn't give a sweeping First Amendment right to reject LGBTQ families, bottling it up the context of the City of Philadelphia's contract.

Breaking: The Supreme Court holds that Philadelphia's refusal to contract with Catholic Social Services, despite its refusal to certify same-sex couples, violates the Free Exercise Clause. There are no dissents; Chief Justice Roberts writes the majority opinion.

Liza Minnelli has outlived the Keystone pipeline which has been canceled. This is a monumental victory for climate change activists who feared it would speed up global warming.

I can’t remember who suggested this book, but thank you! The way PTSD used to be classified as hysteria is harrowing but learning the history of the condition in this feminist framing feels really helpful. 💜p
