Crozes-Hermitage is a very mixed bag, but you won't go wrong with this one. #Rhône
I don't know why every wine merchant has to hit us with their rosé email on the first hot day of the year. Surely, a week before would have been more apt.
Curious trends in China: vineyard growth has stalled, wine production has fallen to 5.9mhl (down from 11.6 in 2017), and wine consumption has fallen to 10.5mhl (down from 19.3 in 2017). What's going on? Figures from OIV.

The place we live is a bit like our terroir, that enables us and lends us expression.
What most caught my eye in the Waitrose Cellar '25% off everything' sale: the La Bastide Blanche Bandol for £11.09! (Sorry for the UK-centric tweet)
First chance I've ever had to visit the San Roque vineyard during dormancy. It's stark, and even more surreal than when in full leaf. It's also eerily beautiful. #JardinOculto #WinesofBolivia #WinesWithAltitude #BolivianWines

Paired, maybe for the first time, with prawn gyoza.
My first ever taste of the rare #Gringet grape, unique to the Savoie cru of Ayze. It's delicate and mineral but also creamy and a little sweet with notes of flowers, straw, sage, star anise, apricot, and honey. Kind of like a lifted Roussanne.
Ice wine dosage, it's an Ontario thing.
It was a Ukrainian, Konstantin Frank, who, in the 50s, established the European vine in New York's Finger Lakes. His thesis at Odessa had been on growing V. vinifera in cold climates. He spoke 9 languages but not English—so in New York he started out as a dishwasher. #TrueStory
@BlindTasters In Margaret River we call that particular phase of vintage when 100s of tonnes of Sauvignon & Semillon hit the deck the "Savalanche" & "Semathon" respectively.

What do Australian winemakers call the wave of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc that has hit their country? A Savalanche.

As I turned my pen (keyboard) to Japanese wine, Facebook reminded me of that time seven years ago when I had dinner in a tree house in Kyoto. Quite unforgettable.

Gosh. Australian wine exports to China fell by **97%** in value in the 12 months ended March 2022 (to just $24m), after China imposed trade tariffs. In 2020, China was the largest importer of Australian wine. Let's drink Australia!
The Cuvée Royale seemed apt this weekend. From the lovely 2008 vintage.
Happy birthday to me! I thought the 2010 was amazing until I tasted the 1990. Planning to pair with duck confit 😋P
@CMMwine @BlindTasters I know we go up to about 3,000m in Bolivia. There may be one higher than this outside of La Paz; I'm just checking. Apart from that, Colomé (as others have said), is the highest I know about.
