We want to encourage COVID testing and assure everyone that tests are available. Please visit NYC.gov/covidtest to find a city-run testing site most convenient and accessible for you.
And we should be clear: We still have robust clinical disease surveillance. And we have additional strategies including wastewater. At-home testing strengthens our response and empowers New Yorkers to make the safest, best decisions for themselves and those around them.
For example, we launched the country's first-mobile-based "Test to Treat" program to provide instant access to prescriptions for no-cost, antiviral medications for eligible people who test positive at these sites.
We fought to restore federal funds to keep those resources available. Nevertheless, the city continues to expand resources where the need is greatest. We will ensure New Yorkers can get no-cost tests.
Comparing total tests performed is tricky because it always included private sites. We do know that the larger universe of free brick-and-mortar PCR testing has diminished. Many private sites have started charging, which has an obvious chilling effect.
Our shift to mobile testing and at-home test distribution expands the number of locations available for New Yorkers to get tested, ensuring fast, flexible, no-cost COVID-19 testing regardless of insurance status.
The city has distributed 35 million at-home tests through a network of nearly 200 libraries and cultural sites and over 850 trusted community-based organizations and houses of worship. We want everyone in NYC to know these resources are available.
This article is missing key information that could erroneously lead a reader to think New York is doing less #COVID19 testing. In fact, we have MORE testing resources than ever and we want New Yorkers to take advantage of them. 🧵g

We lost a 20 year old woman on the Upper East Side tonight. She was pushing a stroller when a gunman took her life. More guns in our city means more lives lost. It means more babies crying as those who love them lie dead. We cannot allow this epidemic to keep claiming lives.

This ruling by the Supreme Court does not deter us from this work but certainly make this work harder in the face of already rising gun violence in our city and our nation.
We have proven approaches to interrupt gun violence through community engagement and focusing on trauma and mental health impacts for all involved and affected in gun violence.
I share the Mayor's concern that this disappointing decision from the Supreme Court today is going to make it easier for people to carry weapons in New York and will exacerbate the public health crisis of gun violence in our city.
Yesterday, I testified before @NewYorkStateAG on access to mental health care for people w/serious mental illness in NYS. Structural & systemic changes must happen to improve the mental health landscape and save as many lives as possible. My testimony: on.nyc.gov/3HHIg7b
