The sun has almost set over Augusta. Patrons wander, soaking in last impressions while members congregate on the lawn. What a week. : )
Guests stand on the veranda looking over as Billy Payne addresses the crowd. Defending Champion Immelman gives the Green Jacket to Cabrera.
Behind the press building, Kenny Perry answers questions under the lights of cameras. Cabrera just appeared on the green with the Chairman.
As Cabrera disappears into the Butler Cabin, members and patrons gather around the putting green for the Green Jacket presentation.
What a finale: The buzz that circled Phil and Tiger, Perry and Campbell duking it out and the swashbuckling Argentinian taking it in the end
Angel Cabrera is the 2009 Masters Champion!
Perry, who had a tough shot, puts it to 20 feet for par. Cabrera is inside him for birdie. This is a must make.
Perry just hooked it well left of the green. Advantage: Cabrera, who has a good look at birdie.
Both Perry and Cabrera stripe it down 10 fairway. Patrons are briskly on the move. It's cooled as shadows loom over Augusta National.
Cabrera makes a gutsy miracle par from the trees. Campell rims out. Perry and "the duck," Angel Cabrera move to 10.
Cabrera hit a ping-pong shot in the trees, but it came out in the fairway and he just put his 3rd to about 8 feet. Perry has a tap in par.
Cabrera pitched out, will play his third from the fairway. Perry hit a weak fade off to the right. Campbell dunked it in the bunker to moans
Correction, they went back to 18. Campbell and Perry are in the fairway, Cabrera went into the trees on the right.
Back to 10...playoff between Perry, Campbell and Cabrera.
Patrons are self-policing. "Down in front" is called often as the tension builds. Perry has a putt to win. He misses, a playoff.
Campbell makes a par. Cabrera is still one shot back with #18 to play. He and Perry just appeared down the fairway.
On 18, Members in red jackets tell the patrons seated what groups are arriving. The crowd groans as the big board shows Perry bogeyed 17.
The roars heard from 16 came thanks to birdies from both Perry and Cabrera. Perry's tap in gave him a 2 shot lead. Shingo just birdied 18.
