bit.ly/144E6vW Those Bettman/Daly quotes are from prior to Game 1 but hadn't realized they were so definitive. We're finally at do or die time for Phoenix.
Bettman: "It's up to the City of Glendale to make the decision... Ultimately, whether or not this team stays at this point, is their call."
Bettman on Glendale: "I worry about what's going to happen to the arena if the team isn't there. I think it's likely to get boarded up."
Daly: "We have done everything humanly possible to make this franchise work in this market. Now we're going to find out whether that works."
Bettman on Coyotes options: "We're not going to... say, ‘we'd rather be here than there.’ We're going to try to preserve what's in place."
Good retirement gig here... RT

Breaking News! Red Wings sign Drew Miller 1.35/year for 3 years!
Bobby Orr on how NHL hockey has changed on the Team 1040 "I think there's a lot of unnecessary checking." Obviously never played the game.
NHL revenues were never projected to be 48/82 for this partial season - a ton of HRR sources weren't cut that drastically. I'd bet on ~70%.
Bettman saying NHL made more than 58% of full season revenue is disingenuous way to look at it. With full postseason, lot of HRR untouched.
Impressive how well he's played with it. RT

Dear
@twitter, why did you kill my TweetDeck? Thx bye.
Updated story on Malkin's new contract setting the new bar for star player deals:
bit.ly/11L2y6F There's the effect of term limits and the variance rule right there - not much creativity in these huge contracts anymore. Get what you get.
Confirmed that there's zero front or backloading to Malkin's deal. Pays $9.5-million every year, with some signing bonuses in later years.
Fact is Leafs almost beat Bruins not playing goons and Hawks/Bruins have skilled 4th lines. Even Thornton can play. Pretty straight forward

@AllanMaki Leafs have signed Colton Orr to a two-year deal. Expect it to be in range of his previous contract: $1-million annually.
NHL revenues will only have to rise to $3.4-billion next season for cap to go up the following season. Big jump not coming till 2015-16.
