Social Media Image Sizes
The last time I checked, there were well over 20 different images sizes being used by the main social networks.
It can be a real pain keeping track of them all; Fortunately, there are a couple of great cheat sheets around that summarize everything you need to know.
This one by Canva is especially good.
These days most of the networks are starting to support a wider range of sizes,
and they're getting smarter at cropping and scaling images dynamically.
I've find that having a 2:1 format and a square format will cover you for most use cases these days.
The main exceptions being Pinterest and Google+ which allow for much longer formats with scrolling.
- Create a good wide 2:1 format (1024x512)
- Create a good square format (800x800)
- Scale those down as needed
- Create other custom formats as required
