Wow, Civ V contains a 'great work' by Kuniyoshi (Japanese print artist)! Terrible choice of print, but I'll take it.
Played hooky and went to the @bklynbotanic to enjoy the cherry blossoms, daffodils, tulips, and magnolias!
A gif of what I'm up to these days at @khanacademy: making everything screen + keyboard accessible!
You can't tell me what to do, Google Chrome. I'll update when I feel like it!
View of the magnolia tree out the back window, taken by @nellshawcohen here in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Spring!!

The hilarious result when I forget to turn off my screen reader before clicking into the Chrome dev console.
And a weirder one: firing a measles medicine cannon at a tiger/tanuki (And yes, that's exactly what you think it is.)
I've got a cold, once again, so here's a Japanese print depicting the defeat of measles. (Yoshifuji, 1840)

I'll close with a poem from the book. /7
This book is in the best museum collections and getting to handle one is an exceptional opportunity. /6
Many of the intricate details and embossing can only be seen upon close inspection with good lighting. /5
The patterns on the shells are embossed and decorated with mother-of-pearl. The lines are a masterwork of carving. /4
The book shows shells as they were discovered on a beach by a group of poets in Edo Japan, paired with poems. /3
Illustrated by Utamaro in 1789 it's an anthology of poetry. It also employs every printing trick in the book. /2
