Are you using Twitter to promote your business? Do you know how to get more leads? Twitter is a fast growing social media site, and is now one of the most visited sites on the web. It has endless possibilities and it is very simple to use. It can drive a huge amount of traffic to your site if you know how to use it properly. Here are some tips for using it for promotion:

Build Relationships with your followers
It’s no good just adding followers and then bombarding them with offers. First you should interact with them and build a relationship, gain their support. Write a good biography and demostrate that you are an expert in what you do. People really love communicating with an expert. Share informative things. Reply to their direct messages and retweet their tweets that you find interesting.

Search for people who are in need of your service
For example, you are selling 'air conditioners'; search for 'poor air condition quality' and save the search. So every time someone tweets those words, you will see them on your dashboards. You can then reach out to them in non-forceful way. Don’t try sell to them, just reach out with something funny, maybe a joke, or something else to lighten up their day.

The search tool is an important tool. By searching terms and keywords that represent your customers, you can use that as a starting point to show a list of twitter users that may have an interest in your company. Locate those in your industry who are already established on Twitter and follow them, you will get a lot of information and you will see who they are talking to. Start following them, some of the time following someone will be mutual and they will start following you back.

Establish an Image
This doesn’t mean that you can’t be yourself or that you need to pretend to be someone else. Just establish yourself as a person who is ready to share your expertise. Chose a name that represents you or your business, avoid using names like @sexylollipop143 that may create a bad image, no one will have an interest in you or with what you have to say. Create a Twitter profile that can draw the interest of your prospects in the market, make them want to follow you. Make it interesting and informative.

After choosing the right name, you can start providing useful information on Twitter, on a regular basis. If your tweets are full of flaws, or provide no value, it will create a negative impression for you and for your company. It will turn off most of your followers and you won’t be able to establish yourself as an authority in your field.

Don't Rush: Strike on a perfect timing
You will become annoying to your followers if you keep promoting your products and services repeatedly, some might even unfollow you because of this. It’s important to plan your daily posting, create variety, and divide your posts up, eg. Tips, Trivia, Ask Questions, etc. Schedule it from Monday to Friday..

Be Transparent
Everything that you say will always be on Twitter, there are no secrets on Twitter. Always post correct information about your products and services, because what you say can always be found, it can haunt you in the future if you are posting false information about your company. If you are posting false information, it can discourage your prospects from purchasing your products or services. Take time to share real information about your industry, not just your products, and keep an eye to those who are interested in you.

Social media is about interaction. It's not just a tool for self promotion and plugs but, it's a place where you can interact with customers, colleagues, and prospects.

Aristotle observed that in the arena of human life, the honours and rewards fall to those who show their good qualities. It is wise building relationships with prospects before asking them to remove their wallets or do whatever. Nice head up!

You are right with every inch of information you shared here. @ dsumter is really true that socail network is to communicate and share not to sell or sold your followers or friends. Perfect timming ahas stated by @stevemor4o is very important. Your sales pitch should only come in when is necessary and it must really be helpful. For instance, someone who needs information on a product and help in making a choice will appreciate a good review of such product. Make a good review first as a help and only suggest your product if it is relevant.

Thank you for the best useful article that can help me to use to promote my business yet.

I think the point about not over-promoting is so important. People use social networks to communicate and share. They don't want to be sold to. You need to be subtle, and think of it more as a branding exercise. Sure, opportunities to promote will arise, but it should not be your primary focus.
